Sparta Rotterdam is letting Pelle Clement leave for free, according to Voetbal International. The contract of the 30-year-old midfielder is expiring and the Kasteelheren have informed him that a new contract is not an option.
What happened?
Clement played for Sparta since the summer of 2023, when the club signed him on a free transfer from RKC Waalwijk. The Amsterdam-born midfielder was a regular starter at Het Kasteel.
Why is this important for Sparta Rotterdam?
The Kasteelheren had kept Clement in limbo regarding his future. Now it is clear that his adventure in Rotterdam is over. The son-in-law of PSV director Earnest Stewart played a total of 92 games for the club.
What's next?
Sparta appointed Rogier Meijer as their new coach earlier on Monday. He joins from Bayer Leverkusen, where he was an assistant coach. Clement is not the only player leaving Sparta on a free transfer. In addition to the right-back, Tobias Lauritsen, Joshua Kitolano, Saïd Bakari, and Patrick van Aanholt are also departing Het Kasteel.
