Sparta Rotterdam has appointed Rogier Meijer as the new coach of the club from Rotterdam-West. Meijer replaces Maurice Steijn, who decided to pursue a different path after 4.5 years. The new coach has signed a contract until the summer of 2028 and comes from Bayer Leverkusen. Sparta had been searching for a new coach since Steijn announced his departure in March. Meijer was previously an assistant coach in the Bundesliga but is now ready for the challenge as head coach. Rogier Meijer is no stranger to the Eredivisie; he was previously successful at NEC, where he led the club to the cup final. Meijer is looking forward to starting in Rotterdam and is excited about the growth Sparta has experienced in recent years. He believes he can contribute to the club's further development and is determined to put Sparta Rotterdam even more on the map.
